Every one of these platforms asks for the same two things — one record for the root domain and one for www. The names differ, the job does not.
Bought the domain from Big Domain and shipped the app on Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, Lovable, Bolt or Replit? You can attach your own domain to any of them yourself in a few minutes. No developer, no migration, nothing to install, and you keep buying the domain here at Ringgit prices.
yourdomain.com and www.yourdomain.com. Most platforms will not accept the connection until the domain is listed on their side, and one without the other leaves half your visitors on a broken address.Use the row that matches where your app runs. A register or CNAME at the apex is not valid DNS — use an A record, or ALIAS / ANAME / flattening where available.
| Platform | Root domain (apex) | Subdomain (www / app) | Also required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel (incl. v0) | A — the value your project shows, 76.76.21.21 on many projects | CNAME — your project's own host, e.g. abc123.vercel-dns-017.com | Nothing else. Older guides still say cname.vercel-dns.com; use what your project shows. |
| Netlify (also where Bolt publishes) | ALIAS / ANAME / flattened CNAME → apex-loadbalancer.netlify.com; if your provider has none of those, A → 75.2.60.5 | CNAME → <your-site>.netlify.app | Netlify adds the apex and www together, so configure both. |
| Cloudflare Pages | Apex must be a Cloudflare zone — the domain's nameservers move to Cloudflare | CNAME → <project>.pages.dev | Add the domain inside Pages first. A CNAME added by hand without that shows a 522. |
| Render | ANAME / ALIAS → <service>.onrender.com; otherwise A → 216.24.57.1. On Cloudflare, Render requires a CNAME, not an A record | CNAME → <service>.onrender.com | Delete every AAAA record, then press Verify in the Render dashboard. |
| Railway | CNAME → <id>.up.railway.app — the apex needs CNAME flattening or ALIAS, which not every DNS provider offers | Same CNAME value | The TXT verification record is mandatory. With only the CNAME you get a 404 after it resolves. |
| Fly.io | A + AAAA — the addresses fly certs add prints for your app | CNAME → <app>.fly.dev | _acme-challenge CNAME for wildcards; _fly-ownership TXT if you sit behind Cloudflare's proxy. |
| Firebase Hosting | A → 199.36.158.100 | The same A record — Firebase does not use a CNAME here | The ownership TXT record must stay in place, and you must remove AAAA and any other A or CNAME. |
| GitHub Pages | A → 185.199.108.153, 185.199.109.153, 185.199.110.153, 185.199.111.153 (+ AAAA 2606:50c0:8000::153–8003::153) | CNAME → <username>.github.io | _github-pages-challenge-<username> TXT is optional but stops someone else taking the domain over. |
| Lovable | A → 185.158.133.1 | Added as its own entry in Lovable, with its own records | TXT on _lovable = lovable_verify=…. No AAAA records, and set the records to DNS only on Cloudflare. |
| Replit | A — the address the Domains tab shows for that domain | Every subdomain, www included, is a separate entry with its own records | replit-verify=… TXT must stay for the life of the domain, not just setup, or the certificate renewal fails later. |
| Bolt | Bolt now hosts and manages domains itself — connect it under Settings → Domains & Hosting and use the values Bolt shows | Same panel | Publishing to Netlify instead is still supported; then use Netlify's records above. |
1. Changing your nameservers silently kills your email. This is the one that catches people out. Adding an A, CNAME or TXT record does not touch your MX records, so mail keeps arriving. Moving the domain to the platform's own nameservers does — and then you have to recreate every MX and TXT record there first. Unless you want the platform running all of your DNS, leave the nameservers alone.
2. A Cloudflare orange cloud blocks verification. If your DNS sits behind Cloudflare's proxy, set the records to DNS only (grey cloud) while you connect the domain. A proxied record usually cannot be validated and the domain simply refuses to confirm. Railway is the exception — its instructions ask for the proxy on and SSL mode set to Full, not Full (Strict).
3. Verification TXT records are permanent. Replit, Railway, Firebase, Lovable and GitHub Pages all issue certificates off a TXT record. Delete it after the domain goes live and the next renewal fails quietly — the site then starts serving an expired certificate weeks later. Treat that TXT row as permanent.
4. AAAA records and apex CNAMEs. Render, Firebase, Lovable and Replit all ask you to remove IPv6 (AAAA) records, and a plain CNAME is not valid at the root of a domain. At the apex use an A record, or ALIAS / ANAME / CNAME flattening if your provider supports it.
Every row above is taken from the platform's own documentation: Vercel, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, Render, Railway, Fly.io, Firebase, GitHub Pages, Lovable, Replit.
Step-by-step instructions for Vercel specifically — the two records, the email trap, and what to do when a domain will not verify — are on our guide to connecting a domain to Vercel.
The part worth doing here is the domain itself. It is priced in Ringgit and billed locally, .my and .com.my start at RM9.90 for the first year, and you can ask us to confirm the renewal rate in writing before you buy — a renewal jump is the complaint people raise most about domains bought for AI-built apps. See every extension on the domain price list, or get in touch and our Malaysian team will help you place the records.
